Our journey began back in 2023 when our daughter, Amelia, qualified for a wish with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We hadn’t had dogs for several years since our daughter’s Cystic Fibrosis diagnosis, so, to our surprise, she wished for a Golden Retriever puppy. After much deliberation, pleading, and eventual agreement, we began searching for the right breeder and we found one, who also became a great mentor for our program in Katie Brouillette. Upon receiving Ruby, we quickly realized she needed a job to keep herself and the rest of us sane, so we set to training her for the hunt test game. Early success with such an amazing dog prompted us to take her as far as she could go and so her training was turned over to John McCarter at Bayou Gundog, LLC in Knoxville, AR.

After we said our goodbye’s, knowing she would be gone for awhile, we realized what a hole she had left in our family, which prompted us to begin looking for another Golden Retriever to start the training journey with again. With guidance from John and our own research, we found Vicci Retrievers in Oklahoma to be having a wonderful AFC x HRCH MH litter and jumped at the opportunity. Yonder came into our lives and we soon knew we had something special in this one. She quickly followed in her big sister’s footsteps and similarly has found a home in advanced training with John in Arkansas, too.

Having two high-performance bred and now proven females has prompted us to delve into the breeding side of things, as they have all the attributes to better the breed in every way. We look forward to what the future brings with our dogs as we add to our family and kennel development and plan to share more of our story and journey with you.
